7/29/97 - "Your page is great, except I can't get to it."

Question: Hey, I've tried to access your page a few times over the past week, and it occasionally tells me that it doesn't exist. Why?

Answer: Well, my internet service provider, the illustrious EmiNet, has been having some problems, ostensibly related to some hacker activity. Hopefully it'll all be better now, since we believe the hacker was none other than Gay Serial Killer(tm) Andrew Cunananan, whose "account has been cancelled", as we say in the world of computers.

Question: I was just kidding, I didn't really visit your site.

Answer: First of all, thank you for your honesty. Secondly, boy are you stupid. This page gets updated more frequently than any webpage I've yet been a part of! If you're not checking it at least every couple days or so, you'll be hopelessly out of the loop by next week.

Question: Oh! I guess that's why it's called Pinback's Web Central, huh? Because it truly is the focal point of the entire internet industry!

Answer: No.
