I was born in 1959, and raised in the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan. During my formative years my father (since retired) was an executive at Ford; my mother was (and remains) an inveterate volunteer.I was an academic and social success in public school, which led to my being accepted at Yale, where I earned a BA in Political Science. Immediately following my graduation from Yale, I enrolled at Stanford, where I subsequently received an MBA.
Over the next twelve years I was employed by two of the "Big Six" accounting firms, in the latter of which I ultimately became a partner.
Along the way, I met and married my now-ex-husband, whose name and friendship I have retained since our parting some years ago.
Stock and real estate investments that I made in the late 80's and 90's have paid off handsomely, permitting me to end my big-city career on a positive note, and "retire" to the hills of rural California where I now have time to devote to my horses and cats, and to making sage observations about the world we live in.
