11/20/2001: Get a load of... Joust. And take your Dramamine first.

11/11/2001: New coaster. This time, with feeling.

11/9/2001 Part 2: Well, I got it. It's amazing. It's incredible. And I'm really bad at it! Want proof? Check out my VERY FIRST coaster!

11/9/2001: The goddamn thing is finally released. Unfortunately, when I tried to order the goddamn thing, the goddamn payment people come back with "We have to review your goddamn order and get back to you within 24 goddamn hours." Goddammit.

Welcome to my NoLimits page. This page has many purposes. I am currently prepared to tell you about a few of them:
  • To provide a repository for my own coaster creations, and anything else I want to repositorize.
  • To convey any pertinent, exciting news or opinions about the software.
  • To pimp this badboy like a slutty half-cousin.
First, let us begin with some overview. What is "NoLimits"? Man has been asking that question since the dawn of time. Today (11/9/2001, which in other countries means 9/11/2001 -- ooooh!) we finally have an answer. NoLimits is a tool with which immature, undersexed people all around the world can pretend to design, and then pretend to ride pretend roller coasters. NoLimits is unique in that, by delivering to the user an editing tool of almost CAD-like flexibility, there are almost (get this) "no limits" on what kind of roller coaster you create. Unfortunately, the name "AlmostNoLimits" was already taken, but this will have to do.

Also unique to NoLimits is the unprecedented level of realism applied to the design and implementation of the coasters. Down to the track ties and braking wheels, real-life tracks, trains, and safety mechanisms are recreated with uncanny accuracy. So is gravity, too, which is pretty important.

This, then, is all wrapped up in a slick little package which blows away any previous roller coaster design software in flexibility, realism, graphics, sound, and amazingly, performance.

And it was all written by a nerdy German college kid, which still pisses me off.

Coasters...

Name: Joust
Date: 11/20/2001
Type: Intamin Dueling Coaster
Length: 4429 ft.
Notes: A seriously wicked experience, this coaster took approximately 15 hours to put together. As of this writing, it is ranked #1 at the CoasterSims ride exchange. It is a truly nauseating, frightening, thrilling experience. The intro goes like this:
In the late 31st century, war had been eradicated from the Earth. Border and political disputes were settled by high-speed fighting machines, organized into a game which had been devised to decide the fate of the world.

This game was called: Joust.

Name: Spyda
Date: 11/11/2001
Type: B&M Floorless
Length: 3650 ft.
Notes: A more serious effort, with at least some semblance of care taken in such matters as comfort, speed, excitement, and not getting your head ripped off by supports, Spyda represents nearly a full day's work. It features five inversions, several high-banked, high-G turns, and a fun little run back to the station. This zig-zagging element is one I hope to explore further in future coasters. I can't believe I just said that.

Name: newsuck
Date: 11/9/2001
Type: Intamin Hyper/Multi-element
Length: 3129 ft.
Notes: Named "newsuck" because it's both new, and it sucks, this coaster exemplifies what can be accomplished by someone who just bought the game and threw together whatever crap he could think of to get something out to the fans as fast as possible. Notice how 1) the second train has to wait until the first train is all the way back at the station before dispatching, and how 2) your head gets taken off by support beams and tree branches several times throughout the ride. AWESOME!!!
